Google Apps adds additional security for data access on mobile devices.

Google continues of expand the capabilities of its hosted applications for business and enterprise users.  Now administrators whose organizations use the premier versions of Google apps have a two-factor authentication available for their use.  This step allows users to install an app on their mobile device that sends a verification code after a successful password entry by the user.

So even if a user’s password is stolen their data cannot be accessed.  While this may seem like an unnecessary step it is likely to dramatically expand the use of mobile devices for businesses managing secure information.
